Welcome to the Porterville Union High School Class of 1964 website. The high school is located in Porterville, California located in the San Joaquin valley. The panther is our mascot and school colors are orange and green. In 1964, Porterville was a city of approximately 7000 people with one high school, 2 junior high schools and 6 elementary schools. The high school also drew students from surrounding towns such as Terra Bella, Springville, Ducor, Poplar, Woodville and Tipton.

Our graduation class consisted of approximately 420+ students which included adult graduates. When we started as freshmen we had 554 students. We participated in several major sports and were active in clubs. Our Panther Marching Band was well recognized thanks to our director, Frank “Buck” Shaffer. Our school had approximately 2500 students and participated in California sponsored 3-A classification.

As of 2020, Porterville now has 4 high schools, and 22 schools in the district with a city population of approximately 59,000. Our Class has some interesting statistics as shown in the table at the bottom of the page.

Approximately 55% live in California and 20% still live in Porterville. Life has taken its toll on members and unfortunately 130 (2024) have passed away. Our class has celebrated reunions throughout the years. The website was created in 2009 and we have links to the 45th, 50th, and 55th reunions. We have a MEMORIAL page to remember deceased classmates.

NOTE: The 60th class reunion will be on October 5, 2024. We have mailed out ORANGE postcards asking class members to reserve that date. A thorough search has been made to locate members for whom we have no address or contact information.
